Disease Management Caves Are Really Sunny? An Industry Lament

The Disease Management Care Blog confesses to being an insufferable channel surfer. Sometimes it punches through TV remote buttons faster than an HMO medical director can click "denied" on a screenful of treatment requests. That's because it's not only looking for shows, but for commercials for its education, dismay or amusement. When the DMCB isn't being distracted by the work of fending off the spouse's sneaky attempts commandeer that remote, it can draw true inspiration from those advertisements.

Case in point is this hilarious Ally Bank commercial....

... where a job prospect is stymied during an interview by a selectively hard-of-hearing dunce.

Talk about life imitating art. Despite an growing body (here, here and here, for example) of peer-reviewed literature that suggests "disease management" can reduce health care costs in most care settings for most chronic conditions, policy makers, academics, politicians and regulators can't quite hear or understand what is being said.

Which is why it the DMCB decided to rustle up this short video. Job interviewee, the disease management industry feels your pain......

On a more serious note, here's a video that suggests asking questions about your condition that could actually help reduce costs. http://whatstherealcost.org/video.php?post=five-questions
